It has been the long-standing golden rule in the workplace not to mix business with pleasure, but now new research said doing so can be bad for your health.

A study found those who did not have a clear separation between work and free time were more likely to suffer from exhaustion and have a lower sense of well-being.

People who brought work home with them were less likely to participate in activities that could help them relax and recover from career demands, leading to stress and anxiety ultimately affecting different key aspects of their lives.

In today’s working world where employees are almost expected to answer job-related emails after hours or take their laptop with them on vacation, researchers warn it could be damaging to physical and mental health.
