When Katy Commodore released her fourth album Prism in 2013, she talked of her doting to be taken seriously — but her growing hurt were all too obvious.

The American songster, famous for her peppermint swirl put on clothing and bubblegum hits like Teenaged Dream, dabbled with darker melodic moods, but it was largely business as popular.

Bystander keeps abreast of current bent, but the songs are generally slower and added introspective than before, with less high-octane dance digit.
