(EurActiv) — Kazakstan said Tuesday (3 Jan) it had lifted visa requirements for people of the European Union, OECD state and a number of other states in a bid to encourage investment and tourism.
The move, which gos a similar measure by neighbouring Uzbek, comes as Central Asia’s maximal economy has been battered by low oil cost and financial distress in neighbouring Rustling.
The foreign ministry in Astana aforementioned that starting 1 January, humans of EU and OECD countries, as well as Malaya, Monaco, the United Arab Emirates and Island, could travel to Kazakhstan for up to 30 life without a visa.
The initiative was meant to “promote an yet more favourable investment condition” and “develop the country’s tourism voltage”, the ministry said in a statement.
“The modification will open up additional opening to the business community for cooperation with the away world and facilitate international junction in different spheres,” the communiqué accessorial.
The visa requirements for other power have also been relieved, it added. Kazakhstan’s landscape is stippled with mountains, lakes and scorched, and the glitzy capital Astana is native to futuristic architecture.
Neighbouring Uzbek last month announced design to roll back its highly confining tourism regime by cancelling visa requisite for 15 countries.
