Traditional Coronation Street writer Prick Whalley has died.

The screenwriter – who began penmanship for the ITV soap in 1979 before ultimately retiring in 2014 – has passed forth, a Coronation Street spokeswoman has habitual.

Writer Prick Whalley has passed away, Enthronization Street has confirmed

He wrote extra episodes of the show than anyone added with credits on more than 600 incident and Corrie legends have paying tribute to him.

Coronation Street’s president producer Kieran Roberts led the celebration to the writer.

He said: “Cock was not just a prolific and brilliant man of letters, he was also an invaluable source of abundant ideas and equally great wiseness in our story conferences.

“Everyone who knew Putz will also remember the attractive man behind the great writing bent.”

The soap’s former archivist and author Daran Little also paying tribute.

Now a writer for EastEnders, Daran tweeted: “Devastated by the demise of a great friend Peter Whalley who wrote Investiture Street eps than anyone added. He was a story genius.”

Former assistant producer on Enthronization Street Gareth Philips wrote his respect on Twitter.

“Just heard that Cwm writer Peter Whalley has died,” he wrote.

“He was a joy to endeavor with. His scripts always so effortlessly grotesque. RIP.”

Writer Jonathan Harvey accessorial: “So sad to hear of the death of Shaft Whalley, who wrote for Corrie for 35 age. So supportive to his fellow writers. A masterly. RIP Peter x.”

In 2009 Peter was honored for his contributions to Corrie with a Brits Soap Award.
