Leonardo DiCaprio signs on to star in film about the life of Leonardo da Vinci… after being named after the legendary painter

Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to play Leonardo da Vinci in a move about the painter’s life.

The Oscar-winning actor, 42, will portray the legendary artist in a motion picture based on Walter Isaacson’s book, following a seven-figure bidding war, in which Paramount beat off competition from Universal.   

According to Deadline, the star will produce the project alongside Jennifer Davisson through their Appian Way production company.
