Meet the new Lara Croft! Fans get a first glimpse of Alicia Vikander in action as Tomb Raider poster and teaser trailer are released

It was one of the roles that propelled Hollywood heavyweight Angelina Jolie to worldwide super-stardom.

And fans of the Tomb Raider franchise got their first look at Alicia Vikander as the new Lara Croft in a poster and 15-second teaser trailer that dropped on Monday.

The poster shows the Oscar-winning actress, 28, looking moodily over her shoulder, wielding a large climbing ax that harks back to the 2013 Tomb Raider game that the new movie is based on.
