AFP A quarter of the short-haul fare going straight to the Treasury

This includes Air Passenger Duty of £13.

It means APD as a percentage of the base fare is 24 per cent.

The figures were released by the ‘Fair Tax on Flying’ campaign group to back up calls for the Chancellor to slash APD in the Budget.

It comes just two weeks after the bosses of BA and EasyJet said APD was a bigger problem for their airlines than Brexit.
