TENS of thousands of Britain’s lowest paid pensioners face having their homes repossessed when the Government closes a scheme offering help with mortgage interest payments next April, industry experts have warned.

The handout to 65,000 pensioners and a further 70,000 working age benefit claimants will be replaced by a government loan dubbed a 'second mortgage' – to be repaid when the property is sold.
