But the move was slammed by former Chancellor George Osborne, who announced the move in 2016.
He wrote on Twitter: “Not sure why the government have delayed this tax cut for self-employed people announced in my 2016 Budget.”
And former Business Secretary Sir Vince Cable fumed: “This is a slap in the face for self-employed workers.
“Small business owners are already being hit with a double whammy of rising prices and higher borrowing costs.
“Now they’re being told that a planned tax cut will be delayed by another year.
