Brad Paisely and Carrie Underwood dedicated the evening to the victims of the recent mass shootings and devastating hurricanes as they co-hosted country music’s biggest night in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday.

It’s the first time that the country music community has gathered together in one place since 58 people were killed and 546 injured at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on October 1 by gunman Stephen Paddock. And it’s just three days since Devin Patrick Kelley gunned down 26 people at a church service in a small town outside San Antonio, Texas.

Carrie, co-hosting for the tenth time with Brad, told the audience:  ‘This has been a year marked by tragedy impacting countless lives…so tonight we’re going to do what families do – come together, pray together, cry together and sing together, too.’

Brad, 45, added: ‘This show is dedicated to all those we’ve lost and those who are still healing. We will never forget you. We love you.’
