IT'S a "potentially hazardous" asteroid that will be the largest space rock to zoom past Earth since records began.

Asteroid Florence is due to pass by our planet today at a distance of 4.4 million miles, which is a tiny amount in cosmic terms and about 18 times further than the distance between the moon and Earth.
